The Influenza A/B+H1N1+H5N1 Antigen Combo Rapid Test (Swab) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Influenza type A, type B, A (H1N1) and A (H5N1) antigen in human nasopharyngeal swab or throat swab specimens. Results are for the detection of Influenza type A, type B, A (H1N1) and A (H5N1) antigen. Positive results do not rule out bacterial infection or co-infection with other viruses. The agent detected may not be the definite cause of disease. Negative results do not preclude Influenza type A, type B, A (H1N1) and A (H5N1) infection and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or patient management decisions.
Influenza A and B are the primary types of flu viruses causing seasonal epidemics in humans, influenza A is morediverse and can infect various animals,leading to pandemics, while lnfluenza B primarily circulates among humansand generally causes milder illness, HiN1 and H5N1 are subtypes of Influenza A, classified by their surfacehemagglutinin (H) and neuraminidase (N) proteins. HiN1 includes strains that caused the 2009 pandemic and isnow a common seasonal flu virus. H5N1 is an avian influenza virus that rarely infects humans but has a highmortality rate when it does, raising concerns about its pandemic potential.
